FOR PATIENTS

What to bring

Essentials:

  1. National ID card or passport.
  2. List of names and phone numbers of those you wish to have involved in your treatment.
  3. List of your medications and dosages.

What You Can Bring:

  1. Jewellery & Accessories:

Jewellery that you wear every day and consider to be a necessity, like your wedding ring or a watch. Otherwise, please leave valuable items at home.

  1. Toiletries*:
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and  toothpaste
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Hair styling products (pump hairspray only; to be kept with the nurse)
  • Comb/brush
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Shaving cream
  • Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Makeup

*Some of these products are available for sale in the hospital boutique. If you bring your own products, they must be new and sealed.

3. Clothing & Footwear:

We recommend that you bring the following items with you for your stay at the clinic:

  • Footwear—comfortable shoes for everyday wear; tennis shoes for activities/sports ; flip flops for the shower; slippers.
  • Shirts—if bringing tank tops, make sure you also pack cardigans to wear with them to comply with the hospital dress code.
  • Pants.
  • Shorts—may have to be a certain length to comply with the hospital dress code.
  • For Addiction Unit residents—one or two ‘dressy’ outfits for special occasions, such as family meetings.
  • Socks
  • Undergarments
  • Pyjamas
  • Coat and/or jacket
  • Bathrobe
  • Belt (not allowed in addiction detox stage and secure wards)
  • Hat (may not be allowed indoors)

4. Electronics

  • Pocket radios, MP3 players and headphones that CANNOT be connected to the internet are allowed.
  • Bluetooth speakers are allowed but use is restricted to a manner of use that doesn’t disturb others.
  • Smart watches and their chargers are allowed but they will not be connected to your phone.
  • E-book readers are allowed but will not be connected to the internet.
  • Personal mobile phones, tablets, laptops are subject to treatment team approval in each department.

HOWEVER, if you are staying in the Addiction Unit, you will NOT have access to your personal mobile phones, tablet, or laptop during the first 28 days of the treatment programme. Access following this period is subject to your treatment plan.

5. Food & Drinks:

  • Sealed food and drink that doesn’t need refrigeration, e.g., juice and biscuits. Items that need refrigeration are allowed in chalets and suites only.
  • Energy drinks and non-alcoholic beer are not allowed.

6. Books & Magazines:.

  • Books and magazines are allowed but are subject to approval from the treatment team.

7. Medications & Prescriptions:

  • Current prescription medication in original packaging. Any liquid medications must be new and sealed.
  • List of all medications and dosages.

8. Other:

  • Electronic cigarettes, subject to treatment team approval. Fluid refills must be new and sealed.
  • Pictures of your loved ones to keep in your room or wallet.
  • Board games.
