academic sessions programme

This training exposes psychology students to the theoretical aspects, associated with psychiatric and psychological practice, within inpatient settings. Case conferences are held weekly, amongst a multidisciplinary team, with the intent of providing education on psychiatric cases, in order to develop treatment and management plans, as well as diagnoses. Reflective Practice sessions are held once per month with the aim of helping staff reflect, learn, adapt and improve their clinical skills and knowledge. Journal club presentations, involve presenting theoretical aspects of clinical practice, with the goal of critically appraising scientific research, as well as covering a variety of related topics. Academic sessions are held, under the supervision of Dr. Mostafa Hussein Omar, the Academic and Research Consultant at The Behman Hospital.

Schedule:

  • Attending weekly Case Conference Presentations on Wednesdays from 9.00 am – 11.00 am (BH Conference Hall).
  • Attending weekly Journal Club Presentations on Thursdays from 9.00 am – 11.00 am (BH Conference Hall).
  • Maximum duration of attendance may not exceed 8 weeks.
  • Minimum duration of attendance is 4 weeks.
  • Certificates of completion are provided, upon the completion of the shadowing phase and will only be issued in accordance to the completed log sheet.
