General Training program protocol

 

Psychology Graduate Student Program Full-Time (Completed BA in Psychology)

 

This on-site training program allows Psychology Graduates to gain exposure to multi-disciplinary inpatient psychiatric care. It focuses on enhancing knowledge regarding psychiatric illnesses and modes of treatment, within a multidisciplinary setting. Students will gain experiential, as well as theoretical knowledge throughout their training period, under direct supervision by hospital staff. Letters of completion are provided upon conclusion

  • Training duration: Twelve weeks.
  • Exact dates to be determined based on hospital capacity, availability and schedule.
  • Training Fees: 22,000 LE for three months.
  • Attendance three days a week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and another day to be agreed on with supervisor, Training hours typically start at 09.00 am until 02.30 pm (Actual times may vary).
  • Attending weekly Case Conference Presentations on Wednesdays from 09.00 am – 11.00 am (BH Library), throughout duration of program (Academic sessions).
  • Attending weekly Journal Club Presentations on Thursdays from 09.00 am – 11.00 am (BH Library), throughout duration of program (Academic sessions) Program:
  • First Month:
    • Case Conferences and Journal Club Presentations (16 hours).
    • Shadowing clinical interviews, attending ward rounds and follow-up interviews in different wards (16 hours).
    • Teaching session on selected topics (1 hour).
    • Direct supervision on selected topics (2 hours).
  • Second Month:
  • Case Conferences and Journal Club Presentations (16 hours).
  • Training on psychometric assessments and shadowing group therapy sessions (approx. 10 hours).
  • Shadowing and participating in social workers daily schedule (approx. 10 hours).
  • Teaching sessions on selected topics (3 hours).
  • Role Play sessions with fellow trainees and supervisors (4 hours).
  • Direct supervision on selected topics and open sessions (4 hours).
  • Third Month:
  • Case Conferences and Journal Club Presentations (16 hours).
  • Shadowing clinical interviews, ward rounds and follow-up interviews in different wards  (approx. 16 hours).
  • Possible communication with long-term patients (approx. 8 hours).
  • Scientific research methods on relevant topics and presenting findings to Psychology Team (approx. 4 hours).
  • Teaching sessions on selected topics and group supervision sessions (4 hours) o Direct supervision on selected topics and open sessions (4 hours).
  • Role Play sessions with fellow trainees and supervisors (4 hours)
  • Shadowing of Equine Therapy process with Team Equus (2 hours) [Optional].
